Hevea Baby products are made from 100% natural rubber, the sap coming from the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis). All products are BPA, phthalates and PVC free, with no added colours or synthetics. To eliminate grime and mould build up the hygienic one-piece designs have no perforations; therefore bacteria cannot accumulate and hide.

Natural rubber is biodegradable, and a sustainable source. It has the ability to be broken down physically and/or chemically by microorganisms - usually requiring exposure to sunlight, air and moisture. Using natural rubber, rather than synthetic rubber made from oil, acts against climate change by increasing the number of trees and cutting back on the use of fossil
fuels. In many parts of the world, the rubber trees' commercial value has protected forests from cattle ranchers.
Hevea uses natural rubber tapped in Malaysia. In Malaysia they pay a percentage of the raw rubber costs to the Malaysian Rubber board, which in return helps to create a sustainable industry by replanting rubber trees and invest research & development towards sustaining the viability of the rubber industry in Malaysia. Rubber trees provide work for some 30 million people around the world - a typical day involves tapping the tree just before break of dawn, with small ceramic bowls or coconut shells in the early morning when internal pressure is at its highest. A good tapper can tap a tree every 20 seconds and can cover around 500 trees in three hours. The trees drip latex for about four hours, and tappers usually rest and have a meal then start collecting the liquid "field latex" at about midday.
